Want a Healthy Heart? Add Flaxseed to Your Diet

A little sprinkle each day gives you all the omega-3s you need

You know omega-3 fatty acids, the unsaturated fats mostly associated with certain fish, are good for your ticker. But did you know you can get this heart-healthy fat from flaxseed, too? It’s true. Flaxseed is the richest source of the alpha-linolenic acid form of omega-3, according to the Cleveland Clinic. Flaxseed can be used with many meals—from a sprinkle on your oatmeal to an egg substitute when baking to an ingredient in your morning smoothie. Two tablespoons per day should do the trick.
