Whittle your waistline without even thinking about it
Maintain your target weight range by keeping a careful eye on your calorie intake. You can do this by watching how much you eat, of course, but you also should look for ways to burn off excess calories. You can melt 150 of them without a whole lot of time and effort with small activities throughout your day.
Tackle your chores. We underestimate cleaning as a workout. But toting laundry up and down steps, vacuuming, mopping, mowing the lawn and raking leaves all burn calories. You may not notice because you’re focused on completing your to-do list, but chores are exercise. Burning calories is all about moving your body.
Take the stairs. You’ve probably heard this one before, but that’s because it works. In addition to an easy calorie-burn opportunity, stairs tone your lower body. Want to increase the calorie burn? Jog up the stairs.
Work out during the commercials. About 15 minutes of an hour-long show is commercials. Do squats, lunges, triceps dips, push-ups or leg lifts. Just get your heart rate pumping and your muscles engaged.
Park at the end of the lot. Stop trying to find a parking space by the door. You’ll save time and blast calories if you park father and walk to the building. Bonus: Walking is free, easy and has stress-busting benefits, too.
Dance. One of the most enjoyable ways to burn off extra calories? Put on your dancing shoes. You don’t have to know the latest dance steps, just make a playlist and have your own personal 10-minute party in your living room. Dancing, like walking, is a stress reliever.
