You probably know carrots are good for your eyes, but to helpprotect vision and prevent eye disease, you shouldn’t stop with Bugs Bunny’s favorite food. A healthy diet overall is important for eye health, according to the National Eye Institute. So check out these other foods that can keep your peepers in good shape:

Fruits: apricot, avocado, blueberries, cantaloupe, grapefruit, honeydew melon, mango, oranges, papaya, peaches, tangerines and tomato
Vegetables: broccoli, carrots, collard greens, kale, peas, peppers, pumpkin, spinach, sweet potato and Swiss chard
Omega-3-rich foods: canola oil, flaxseed, herring, mackerel, rainbow trout, salmon, sardines, soybeans, tuna and walnuts
Sources of zinc: beans, buckwheat, bulgur, eggs, fortifiedbreakfast cereals, king crab, lamb, lean beef, lean pork, poultry (dark meat), pumpkin seeds and whole-wheat flours
